The Company
A growing organisation that provides the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) market place with IT infrastructure support services. IT infrastructure is defined as Desktop, Server, LAN, WAN, Email, Security and Internet systems.
Job Purpose
To proactively monitor and manage the CLIENT Firewalls by: ?Availability Management on a 24*7*365 basis : Call-out only on Sev. 1 ?Service Call and Incident Management in response to performance or availability issues ?Problem Management in order to resolve issues that require more in depth investigation, analysis and complex solutions to fix them ?Configuration Management to understand, document, track and manage network device configurations ?Change Management to implement changes to the firewalls in a controlled fashion ?Break-fix Management to ensure that hardware failures are responded to promptly and replacement equipment is implemented speedily to the point where normal service is restored ?Execute proactive checks on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to ensure that firewall systems are operating within acceptable * normal parameters
Project Work ?Design * install VPN * firewall and associated solutions
Availability Management ?To monitor availability of all Firewall devices ?Use of Network Node Manager and Nokia*Checkpoint Management System to monitor the environment and diagnose issues ?Proactively monitor the network via management tools, identify potential problems, issues, and implement remedies prior to these becoming an issue. (Via change control)
Service Call & Incident Management ?Raise and*or respond to Service Calls and Incidents logged in relation to suspected firewall related performance or availability issues ?Investigate symptoms and diagnose root cause of incidents ?Raise and implement changes (via Change Control) to resolve these issues*incidents in order to restore normal service ?Maintain Service Call ticket information Problem Management ?Raise and*or respond to Problems logged in relation to suspected firewall related performance or availability issues ?Investigate symptoms and diagnose root cause of problems ?Raise and implement changes or projects (via Change Control) to resolve these problems in order to restore normal service ?Maintain Problem ticket information
Configuration Management ?Maintain network diagrams, hardware and software inventory information relating to each site supported in the estate ?Periodically review the configuration standards to ensure compliance with industry recommendations ?Ensure that the CMDB is maintained in line with the physical inventory deployed ?Execute configuration changes (via Change Control) in order to complete authorised Change Requests (including creation of certificates, user accounts, and access rules)
The Person: Skills*Experience
Essential: ?Cisco Private Internet Exchange (PIX) certification ?Nokia Firewall certification ?Checkpoint NG certification ?3 years experience of support Cisco Catalyst switches (29xx, 35xx, 65xx systems)
Desirable: ?Ciscoworks ?HP Openview ?HP Service Desk ?Exposure to supporting VPNs ?Packeteer preferable
Salary Package:
Salary base £40k - £45k On call: (one week on : one week off). On call * Standby Rate is £250 per week [if called out between end of working day and midnight Rate 1.5x and if called out between midnight to 07:59hrs Rate 2x] Overtime: Saturday Rate 1.5x and Sunday Rate 2x Other benefits include Mileage, Mobile, Company Laptop, Broadband at home, Health Insurance, Pension and 25 days holiday
